Can I format standard reports or ad hoc reports that I have added?

Yes, you can reformat any report. See the chapter on Making Reports in the Tutorial Guide. Here is an outline on how this is done using the Format Report feature.

Formatting Reports – Using Format Report

This button brings up the Crystal Report Designer. It gives you complete control over every feature of a report. Some of its capabilities are:

  • Headers and footers for the entire report, for each page, and for each summary or subtotal section.
  • Extensive calculated fields, including many arithmetic functions.
  • Sorting by any field or multiple fields, including calculated fields.
  • Sorting by group subtotals; printing only the highest (or lowest) group subtotals.
  • Live headers (section headers that include the name of the section).
  • Charts in several formats: pie, bar, line, area, doughnut, bubble, stock, radar.
  • Multiple sections per report (for example, balances, then attendance).
  • Custom groups for special non-alphabetic sorting.
  • Interval groups (e.g. by age).

Here is how you open the Embedded Crystal Report Designer:

  1. Open any report.
  2. For the Standard reports, Click on Save As button to save the report in another name, so that the new report will not get changed during the upgrade process.
  3. The new report will be saved in the same location where the standard report exists. And also it will be available in the Report Center >Recall/Delete Memorized or usercreated reports.
  4. Open the new report and Click on the viewer tab.
  5. Click on the Format button at the top of the form.
  6. Select Format Report. You can drag the window higher to see all of it.
  7. Save the report using the File Menu. Before saving the report, You can preview the report to check the changes.
