æ           We do not commonly use this method anymore to avoid the cost of burning and shipping CDs. For currently used method see section, Upgrading iCare from an Upgrade Patch (Web Download). An extra charge will incur if you would prefer to receive the upgrade on a CD.

Upgrading the iCare Server

1.       Insert the new version CD in the CD-ROM.

2.       Follow the installation steps as prompted.

3.       When prompted choose the “Repair” option.

4.       After the installation from the CD is finished, if asked, restart Windows.

5.       Review the upgrade version release notes to see if any extra steps are required for the particular version upgrade you are making.

6.       If required, take the prescribed extra steps.

7.       Restart iCare.

8.       When prompted “Do you want to transfer your old data…”, choose YES.

9.       After iCare starts check whether the file versions on iCare Server are correct. To do so, follow instructions given in the section Check iCare File Versions on Your Computer (page 48).

æ          Some upgrade versions require extra steps. These steps are given on the version release notes. Do not skip these steps. They may be essential for proper transfer of your old data or for making your old data compatible with the new version.

Upgrading the Workstations

1.       Check the upgrade version release notes to see whether a full installation is required or not.

2.       If a full installation on the workstations is required then follow the steps below in the section, Upgrading the Workstations With Full Installation.

3.       If a full installation on the workstations is NOT required then follow the steps below in the section, Upgrading the Workstations without Full Installation.

Upgrading the Workstations with Full Installation

1.       Use the same steps as given in the section, Installing iCare on the Workstations.

2.       After iCare starts check whether the file versions on iCare Server are correct. To do so, follow instructions given in the section, Check iCare File Versions on Your Computer (page 48).

æ          Follow these steps after upgrading the iCare Server.

Upgrading the Workstations without Full Installation

1.       From the iCare Server copy the folder DCMS9003\Bin to the workstation.

2.       Start iCare.

3.       Check whether the file versions on iCare Server are correct. To do so, follow instructions given in the section Check iCare File Versions on Your Computer (page 48).
