If you have a Data Terminal you can use it to identify the COM Port number by the following method:

1.       Install a Data Terminal on any of your serial ports as shown above.

2.       Set up iCare to operate one Data Terminal as shown above.

3.       Restart iCare.

4.       Go to the System Configuration menu.

5.       Select System HW Setup.

6.       Go to the Data Terminal tab.

7.       Click on Find COM Port #’s Used by the Data Terminals.

—          When connecting door openers, swipe card readers or serial printers, you need the COM Port number of the serial port on which they are installed. You can use the above method for easily finding the COM Port number.
