Installing the Door Opener

 

X-10 Pro Universal Module
PC Connection Module and Remote Kit 

Installation of the Electric Door Opener Kit

1.       Plug X-10 Pro Universal Module into any convenient electrical outlet.

2.       Connect the Electric Door Relay (Low DC voltage) Wires to the connections on the X-10 Pro Universal Module.

3.       On the module set the House Code to A and Unit code to 1.

4.       Plug the PC Connection Module into any electrical outlet.

5.      

Wall sockets, which can be wide apart, but should be on the same circuit.

Universal Module (Relay)

Relay (override) wires connect the universal module and the electric door. Doors usually use 15-24 Volt DC power.

Identify the special cable provided that has a telephone type connector on one end and a Serial Port DB9 Female connector on the other end.

6.       Using this special cable, make the connection between the PC Connection Module and an available Serial Port on the PC.

7.       In iCare go to the System Configuration Menu.

8.       Select System HW Setup.

9.       Click on the Door Opener tab.

10.   Click on the Door Opener Configuration button.

11.   Set the COM Port Number setting to match the COM Number of the Port to which you connected the PC Connection Module.

12.   In the settings for Universal Module, set the House Code to A and Unit code to 1.

13.   Click on Accept Settings.

          If the Door Opener Configuration Form indicates that the Door Opener has not been activated, follow instructions given in the section, Activating the Door Opener (below).

Activating the Door Opener

After installing the Electric Door Opener you need to activate it.

1.       In iCare go to the System Configuration Menu.

2.       Select System HW Setup.

3.       Click on the Door Opener tab.

4.       Click on Activate/Deactivate Door Opener.

Tripping the Electric Door Opener when someone uses the Data Terminal

The door will now trip open when parents or staff enter their code and password on the Data Terminal and finish answering any questions if asked.

Tripping the Electric Door Opener from iCare

1.       Go to the Tools menu. Select Open Door.

Tripping the Electric Door Opener Manually

1.       Press the ON switch on the X-10 Pro Universal Module.

Using the Remote Control for the Electric Door Opener

1.       Plug the Remote Module into any electrical outlet. On this module set the House Code to A and Unit Code to 1.

Setting up the Key-chain Remote Control

1.       Open the battery compartment of the Key-chain Remote.

2.       Insert a right type of battery.

3.       Set the remote control code in the battery compartment according to the setup of the Universal Module.

          Depending on the model of the remote control you have, the method for setting the door opener code may be different.

Setting up the 6-in-1 Remote Control

1.       Press the HOME DIRECTOR button on the 6-in-1 Remote.

2.       Press and Hold the SET UP button until the red light glows.

3.       Press 1 (which is the number corresponding to the unit code) on the Remote Control.

4.       Press ENT

Open the Electric Door using the Remote Control

1.       Press the ON button on the Remote Control to trip open the Electric Door Opener.

æ          If you use the Remote Module, be aware that IBM sells this module in the open market. Someone could get access to another Remote Control and trip open the door without your knowledge. Use it carefully and unplug it at night.

Installing a Touch Screen Monitor or Lobby Interface

1.       On the lobby computer install iCare as a Workstation.

2.       If you do not want anyone to run iCare on this computer, then delete file DCMS9003.exe from the DCMS9003\Bin folder.

3.       Start the program LobbyInterface.exe located in the DCMS9003\Bin folder by double-clicking it. You can create a shortcut by right-clicking the program and selecting Create Shortcut, then dragging that shortcut to the desktop.
