1.       Install the Swipe Card reader and its power supply as per the instructions that came with the hardware.

2.       In iCare, go to the System Configuration menu.

3.       Select System HW Setup.

4.       Go to the Swipe Card Reader tab.

5.       If the value in the Total Readers box is less than the number of readers you are installing, click on the New button.

6.       If the value in the Total Readers box is more than the number of readers you are installing, click on the Delete button.

7.       Click on the Edit button.

8.       In the section titled On a Good Swipe, choose what the system should do when a good swipe is received.

9.       In the section titled Matching Criterion, choose whether you want to use the Code or the Password to match the barcode number on the swipe cards.

æ          If you choose to record attendance directly, then you can use codes only but not the passwords.

10.   Select the COM Port Number on which you have installed the Swipe Card Reader.

To find the COM Port number of a serial port on your computer, see instruction in the section Identifying COM Port Numbers on your Computer (page 59).

11.   Enter the communication values for the COM Port.

It is best to use the default values.

12.   Press Save.

13.   In the Child Enrollment Form enter the swipe card number in the code or password field as selected here.
