How do I make two children siblings if I entered them separately?
This depends on how you have entered the contacts for the children.
If you want to enter a new child who is a sibling of a current student, you can go to the current student, click Add New, and select Add New Sibling. This automatically makes them siblings, and you can enter the new student's information.
If you have entered two children separately, make sure the contact relationship in both cases is one of the "parent" relationship groups. Children with the same guardian, for example, are not considered siblings. You may need to add a new relationship that has a descriptive name but is in the "parent" relationship group.
If you have entered two children separately, and you entered the same contact but with different names (for example Bob Smith and Robert Smith), you can pick one of the contact entries to be used for both children. Let's say you want to use Robert Smith for both.
- Find the child whose contact will be changed (the one with Bob Smith).
- Make sure that the two contacts have different relationships. One child cannot have two fathers or two Parent1s. Change the relationship in the contact that will be removed (Bob Smith).
- Click Add New, then select Add New Contact. The contact tab will appear.
- Click Different Address. Now enter the correct contact name (Robert Smith).
- iCare will ask you if a person with that name is the same person. Click Yes. Click Save the Changes.
- You cannot delete the Main Contact, so click on Robert Smith in the "Contact Information" area on the right. Then click "SetAsMainContact."
- Click Edit, change Robert Smith's relationship for this child to the correct relationship, then click Save Changes.
- Click on Bob Smith in the "Contact Information" area, then click "Remove". Select Delete Contact. It's okay to permanently remove the contact.
