Managing the Day Ending Process
The Day Ending Process is a nightly batch process that includes many automation and administrative tasks.

§ Automated messaging
§ Detection of abnormalities
At a specified time every night iCare will run several tasks automatically. It includes billing automation routines, time clock shut down and the database backup.
Setup for Running the Day Ending Process Automatically
1. Go to the Main menu.
2. Select Center Setup.
The Maintain Center Information form will open.
3. Click on the Open/Close/Peak Time tab.
4. Press the Edit Data button.
5. Enter the desired SystemDayEndingTime.
If you are collecting attendance, enter a time later than the time when everyone is expected to have clocked out.6. Press the Accept Edit button.
7. Click the [...] button next to SystemDayEndingTime.
8. Check the radio button titled “Do Day Ending on this Computer” and click Save.
9. Close the form.
10. Leave iCare running every night.
— If you are running iCare on a network, then also follow instructions given in the section titled Notes on using iCare on a LAN.
Checking if the Day Ending Process is Running Correctly
To check if the Day Ending Process is running correctly do the following:
1. Go to the Report Center menu.
2. Select System Day Ending Report.
3. Using the date scrolling button scroll back one day.
4. Click on the Date Filter button.
5. Check whether there are entries in the report grid.
If there are no entries in the grid, it implies that the Day Ending Process did not run at all for that date.
6. 7.8. If the error message does not show you an obvious solution call Customer Support at Orgamation for help.
9. To check the Day Ending status report for other days repeat the steps above after scrolling the date scroll button backwards one day or several days at a time.
— If the Day Ending Process is not running correctly then follow the instructions in the section, Troubleshooting the Day Ending Process (page 90), to fix the problem. Also, use the method given in the section Running Day Ending Manually (page 91) to catch up for the missed days.
Troubleshooting the Day Ending Process
If the Day Ending Process has not been running, read the following statements and troubleshooting tips:
1. Your PC that runs the Day Ending Process was turned off or iCare was shut down. Make sure this doesn’t happen.
2. Shut down iCare. If iCare is running on a network then shut it down on all the computers.
3. Using Windows Explorer, go to the DCMS9003\Databases\MainCenter folder.
4. Check if there are any .LDB files. If any, then delete them.
5. If Windows doesn’t let you delete these files, restart your computer and try this step again.
6. Check if there is enough space on the hard drive where the data files are backed up.
7. Call Customer Support at Orgamation.
Running the Day Ending Manually
Use the following method if you do not prefer to use the Day Ending Process or if you want to catch up for days where it process didn’t run because of some problem.
1. Go to the Tools Menu.
2. Select Do Dayending.
3. In the Do Day Ending form, check the boxes as necessary.
Be careful about checking the box Post Attendance for Today. If you check this, the Time Clock for that day or shift will be closed.
All other boxes are safe to check.
4. Click Run Dayending.
5. Answer any questions that may be asked.
